The city of Gotha in Thuringia is twinned with 6 cities in Germany, Europe, the USA and Africa.
The first partnership with the French city of Romilly-sur-Seine began as early as 1960. Other cities followed: Salzgitter 1988, 1993 Gastonia/USA as well as Martin/Slovakia, Kielce/Poland 1997 and Adua/ Ethiopia 2016.
In 2016, 6 trees were planted at Philosophenweg for the respective town twinning and a metal information column was erected.
