Edmond's newest water tower is located on the north side of Danforth Rd., west of Broadway. It is on the west side of Gracelawn Cemetery, and the east side of Edmond North High School. The tower will replace two smaller ones: one at the soccer complex on Danforth, and the other is an iconic tower at the NE side of the University of Central Oklahoma.

The two-million gallon bowl was raised on July 20th, 2019, with the public able to view the event and engineers on hand.

From an Edmond Sun article on June 30, 2019:

Council members were also updated on progress underway at the new water tower site on Danforth and Thomas Drive. Stevens said the tower is now about 50% underway and on target to be completed by the end of 2019.

“The city’s contractor, Landmark Structures, is currently priming and painting the tower bowl,” Stevens said, adding that next is hoisting the bowl into place and constructing a roof over the dome.

The city manager said because of the popularity of the event with the public, the city will announce through social media channels when the tower bowl is to be raised — possibly Saturday, July 20.

“The new tower will help with stabilizing water pressure throughout the system, and the larger capacity tower is more economical to operate and maintain,” Stevens said. “The new tower will also allow the city to place two other smaller towers out of service. They are located at the soccer complex off of Danforth, and at Ayres and Baumann near the UCO campus.”

Cost of the water tower project is $4.7 million and proceeds to pay for the project come from a $4.7 million loan from the state Revolving Water Fund Loan Program.
