The plaque reads: "Derrick Adams is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist who examines the impact popular culture and the media on the perception and construction of selt-image, result- Ing in work that appears to be both in a state of deconstruction and in the process of being built. Installed in October 2018. the seven-storv mural Fashion Show is Adams' largest commission to date. The nearby lighting installation titled Fashion Accessories was also created by Adams and together the two works transform Fashion Outlets of Chicago's grand entrance. The installation illuminates the canopy of the grand entrance walkway and leads Fashion Outlets of Chicago visitors from the porte-cochere to the entrance or the shopping celle. Inspired by legendary African American fashion designer Patrick Kelly, both the mural and the lighting installation celebrate the bold and colorful geometric forms typical of Kelly's clothing patterns.
