Houses of this type can still be found in small towns around Utah. Probably first designed as the basement for a larger home, construction was never completed but the outcome is a home with excellent insulation. The stairs become the entrance hall. This example has gas for heating, cable access and a sprinkled roof. The garage makes up for any lack of headroom in the house.
