Ottawa's municipal transit service OC Transpo opened Tunney's Pasture as a bus station in 1983. It takes its name from the nearby government office complex. The bus service ran on a bus-only road in a trench built on the right-of-way of the former Canadian Pacific Railway's Carleton Place sub-division.

In 2016, Tunney's Pasture bus station was closed for conversion. It is now the terminus for the Confederation Line, OC Transpo's light rail system. This is where the bus passengers and rail passengers change vehicles, all within a fare-paid zone. In the future, the rail line will be expanded west in the aforementioned ditch which parallels Scott Street.
