This Quana Parker Trail Arrow pierces the ground behind the former Magnolia Service Station on Route 66 in Vega, TX. It is one of many arrows that are scattered throughout the Texas panhandle. The marker beneath it reads:
“Camanches camped at Playa Lakes here traveling trail N to Tascosa and E/W to Teco as springs & Gucumcari, Arrow Sculpture Charles A. Smith.” This arrow honoring chief Quanah Parker was installed on August 5, 2014.
The 1924 gas station now houses a small museum and visitor center for those traveling through Vega on Route 66.
