The balinese translation is Pura (Luhar) Uluwatu.

The Temple is dedicated to Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa (the supreme god of Indonesian Hinduism).

A smaller structure originated on site.

However in the 11th century it was significantly expanded by a Javanese Sage, Empu Kuturan.

The shrine construction is credited to have been constructed by another sage Dang Hyang Nirartha.

The Temple is largely inhabitied by monkeys whom are notorius for snatching visitor's belongings.

You can then barter with fruit in an atttenpt to have your belongings returned.

As a visitor you are exoected to wear a Sarong and a sash.
