[FR] "L'essor de l'industrie rubanière entraîne en 1808 la création d'une Bourse aux Soies. Installée tout d'abord place du Peuple, puis dans l'actuelle rue de la Résistance, la Condition des Soies déménage en 1909 dans de nouveaux locaux, toujours en plein coeur du quartier des rubaniers. Elle a fonctionné jusqu'en 1962, avant d'accueillir des bureaux puis l'École de Commerce. C'est aujourd'hui une résidence privée, réhabilitée en Bâtiment Basse Consommation."

"Dans ces bâtiments, on vérifiait la qualité de la soie en mesurant son degré d'humidité; de là on s'assurait que son prix d'achat correspondait au seul poids de la soie, c'est-à-dire sans l'eau et les gommes qui aurait pu s'y mêler.
Cette Condition des soies se trouve 14, rue Elisée Reclus. On la doit aux architectes Léon et Marcel Lamaizière. Elle fut construite en 1909-1910, sous l'administration du maire Hippolyte Royet(qui fit également élever l'Hôtel de ville).
La façade dans le style art nouveau, en courbes et reliefs, est décorée de motifs de la rubanerie."
