Gooloowan is a two-storey rendered brick house built for Benjamin Cribb and his second wife Clarissa.There are verandahs supported on paired timber posts encircling the house on both the upper and lower levels, the upper level having cast-iron balustrading and a concave curved corrugated iron roof.
Just outside the white picket fence is an engrave Historical Marker, mounted on a low post, with the following inscription:-

" GOOLOOWAN
In 1864 this large brick house designed by architect Charles Balding was built for Benjamin and Clarisa Cribb
The exterior brickwork has been rendered but otherwise the house is little changed inside and out and includes nurseries, original bathrooms and servants quarters "
