[EN] "The church of Saint-Gervais-et-Saint Protais, whose origins date back to the 5th century or 6th century, was undoubtedly the victim of the wars which devastated Poitou until the 16th century. It owes its present physiognomy to a first restoration of 1604 and repairs to 1839 (extension of the nave) and 1849 (new bell tower). The choir houses a tabernacle altarpiece classified from the 17th century in polychrome wood in baroque style. The central body represents the Ascension of Christ, both side panels of the Nativity and the Adoration of the Magi. These scenes are framed by the four evangelists and surmounted by angels with outstretched wings. "

You will be able to see from a distance when you arrive at the majestic bell tower which stands on this Saint Gervais church. This bell tower is particular since it is composed of two parts: a square base overhung by a rounded part.
