Located at 518 S. Main, the Kiowa County Historical Museum is located in the Rock Island depot constructed in 1905. This mailbox is located on the west side just outside the chain link fence and the main entrance.

The mailbox is a boxy wagon with four spoked wheels, and four curved metal rings across the top simulating the canvas covered Connestoga wagons of the early frontier. The mailbox is appropriate for its location as the museum has memorabilia of the early farming-town days of Hobart when wagons of this type would have been used to bring families to the area.
