FR En janvier 2000, Georges Batiget, ancien maire de Rognac, avait souhaité marquer le passage au nouveau millénaire. Il avait pour cela inauguré la statue "Aux sources du temps" en présence de jeunes ayant 20 ans cette année-là.
Cette oeuvre présentant un couple avec un enfant sur l'épaule représente la famille qui regarde l'avenir, tout un symbole.
Ce monument a donc été construit en résine pour résister à l'épreuve du temps et exposé à la vue de tous les Rognacais. Depuis, la statue est même devenue un emblème de notre ville et ornait magistralement le rond point où se situe la police municipale.
Malheureusement, le 15 novembre 2011, l'ancien maire Georges Batiget décède et le nouveau maire donne aussitôt l'ordre de déplacer l'oeuvre, symbole de son prédécesseur.
L'oeuvre devait résister au temps ... mais ne supporte pas le déplacement et est gravement abîmée lors de son soulèvement avant d'être déplacée, cachée, dans le parc tout près.
EN In January 2000, Georges Batiget, former mayor of Rognac, wanted to mark the transition to the new millennium. For this he had inaugurated the statue "At the sources of time" in the presence of young people who were 20 years old that year.
This work presenting a couple with a child on the shoulder represents the family who looks to the future, a symbol.
This monument was therefore built in resin to stand the test of time and exposed to the view of all Rognac residents. Since then, the statue has even become an emblem of our city and masterfully adorned the roundabout where the municipal police are located.
Unfortunately, on November 15, 2011, the former mayor Georges Batiget died and the new mayor immediately gave the order to move the work, symbol of his predecessor.
The work had to resist time ... but does not support displacement and is badly damaged during its lifting before being moved, hidden, in the park nearby.
