"About 1851, an acre of ground was donated by Lorenz Sommers to be used by the people of St. John's parish to bury their dead.
"The cemetery did not receive regular care until about 1925. When the Holy Name Society took it upon themselves to care for the grounds. About this time, Mr. B.T. Twenter donated chain link fencing, and gates for the burial grounds. In 1956; more land was added; this was originally part of the church property, and again, Mr. Twenter donated more fencing. A shrine stand in the southwest corner.
