IN LOVING MEMORY
JOE "DOC" VOLLMER
"Joe Lee (Doc) Vollmer, 61, of Pilot Grove, passed away June 19 at his home.
"He was born December 31, 1949 in Boonville, Mo., to Alloys and Emma Twenter Vollmer. He was married to Dorothy Aversman on Aug. 2, 1986, in Clear Creek, Mo.
"She survives of the home.
"He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus at Clear Creek, president of the St. John's Cemetery Board, past member of the Pilot Grove Lions Club and Pilot Grove Range Riders, and served on the Pilot Grove City Council for several years. He was a life-long farmer in the Pilot Grove community. He worked for Scott Implement in Sweet Springs for many years. He retired from MoDOT after 12 years of service in March.
"He is survived by his wife of the home, one daughter-Alice and one son-Joey, both of the home; three brothers-John (Martha Ann), Andy (Nancy), and Pete (Selma) Vollmer, all of Boonville; and one sister-in-law Mary Ellen Vollmer of Boonville. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-Bob, and one sister-Elsie.
"Funeral services for Mr. Vollmer will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 23, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove with Fr. Phil Kane officiating. Burial in the St. John's Cemetery in Clear Creek.
"Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, June 22, at the church with a prayer service at 6 p.m.
Memorials to the St. Joseph School, St. John's Cemetery, or donor's choice.
