Located in the Ponce de Leon Park is a coastal boardwalk. The boardwalk crosses through a tidal mangrove area that floods during high tides and drains during low tides. This gives visitors an opportunity to observe numerous species through out the day. Halfway into the boardwalk it forks and visitors can go either left or right on the fork with no worry of having to repeat steps due to both sides circling around. There is a fishing pier at approximately the 1/8 mile mark that faces onto the Punta Gorda Isles access canal leading to Charlotte Harbor. This is a lovely place to relax and watch the boats going by. It is a concrete and steel pier with lowered rail spots for fishing.
The coastal boardwalk has 10 interpretive stations explaining the wildlife that one can see along the way throughout the day. There is ample parking, restrooms, picnic area, playground, benches for seating, picnic tables, a wildlife/rehab center, beach and boat ramp. Numerous other waymarks are within the park. Constructed of recycled plastic and wood, this boardwalk is wheelchair and ADA accessible.

Hours are sunrise to sunset. Park is free of charge. Donations or small fee for wildlife center.
