Der Planetenweg Erftstadt ist ein Modell unseres Sonnensystems im Maßstab von 1:1 Milliarde. Die neun Planeten des Systems sowie die Sonne selber sind an Stationen entlang einer alten Römerstraße ausgestellt, die früher von Trier bis nach Köln führte.

Jede Planetenstation beinhaltet eine Stele aus Beton mit einem Loch, in dem sich ein Modell des jeweiligen Planeten aus Edelstahl befindet. Daneben befindet sich jeweils eine Sitzbank sowie eine Tafel mit Informationen zu dem Planeten und dem Planetenweg. Sowohl die Größe der Plantenmodelle als auch der Abstand zueinander sind maßstabsgetreu, so dass der gesamte Plantenweg eine Länge von etwa 6 Kilometer hat. Die äußerste Station (Pluto) liegt östlich von Erftstadt-Erp, die Sonne ist auf einem Hügel im Gesundheitsgarten in Erftstadt-Liblar zu finden.

Diese Station zeigt unseren Heimatplaneten und liegt genauso wie die Venus in einer Grünanlage des Marien-Hospitals in Erftstadt-Liblar. Die Erde ist der einzige belebte Planet unseres Sonnensystems, was zum einen an der richtigen Entfernung zur Sonne und somit lebensverträglichen Temperaturen liegt. Zum anderen ist die Atmosphäre unseres Planeten entscheidend für die Entwicklung von Leben. Etwa Zwei Drittel der Oberfläche sind mit Wasser bedeckt, was die Erde zum "blauen" Planeten macht.

The planetary trail of Erftstadt is a model of our solar system on a scale of 1:1 billion. The nine planets of the system as well as the sun itself are exhibited at stations along an old Roman road that used to go from Trier to Cologne.

Each planet station contains a concrete stele with a hole in which a model of the respective planet is made of stainless steel. Next to it is a bench and a board with information about the planet and the planetary trail. Both the size of the planet models and the distance from each other are to scale, so that the entire planetary trail is about 6 kilometers long. The outermost station (Pluto) is east of Erftstadt-Erp, the sun can be found on a hill in the park Gesundheitsgarten in Erftstadt-Liblar.

This station shows our home planet and, like Venus, is located in a green area of the Marien Hospital in Erftstadt-Liblar. Earth is the only living planet in our solar system, which is due to the correct distance from the sun and therefore life-friendly temperatures. On the other hand, the atmosphere of our planet is crucial for the development of life. About two thirds of the surface is covered with water, which makes earth the "blue" planet.
