Cowtown Brewing Co. is a microbrewery with a nice tap room and outdoor patio on the edge of downtown Fort Worth. Typically, you'll order your food at the bar when you pick up your beer, but there may be times, like during the pandemic, that they'll do table service, and service is always outstanding.

It's cozy here, and they definitely intend this as a place for folks to gather and enjoy life, with open space, a few TVs, and even free, secure wi-fi. They have a pretty nice variety of appetizers, including wings, for those who are looking for something small to share, or for parties with big appetites. Check with them as to any daily specials for food, drink, or both, and their menu is always available on their website (see below).

There's no Pig Out type of thing going on, but you can order as much as you like by the pound, and they do have one or two meat plates that come with homemade sides that are worth trying. Take your pick of brisket -- Nolan Ryan beef, chopped or sliced -- pulled pork, country style pork, sausage (black pepper or jalapeño cheddar), turkey breast, ham, or baby back ribs. On Sundays, they have a beef rib meal with a couple of sides, reasonably priced, too. Sandwiches can be made from practically everything, and there are a few other handheld offerings like wraps, tacos, and quesadillas. They've got a nice selection of sides, including the beans, slaw, and potato salad that are old favorites, and their elotes is an outstanding side with sweet corn for those who aren't familiar. They also have a small kids menu -- you can eat on the cheap with a sandwich for $6 -- and on Thursdays and Fridays, they have a couple of family packs that are for carry-out only. On Thursday, it's a big barbecue bundle, while on Friday, it's wings.

Besides iced tea and soft drinks, they have a small wine/cider menu, and the main beverage here is a great selection of their own handcrafted beer. You can't miss the listing behind the bar, but they'll put down a menu for you, too. A copy of the current menu is in the gallery, and they do have some rotators. Most of their stuff is available by the pint, but some of the heavier beers have a smaller pour, and one can also get a five ouncer because a very small sample just doesn't work to give you an idea as to what you're trying. While they don't necessarily specialize in lagers, they do far more of them than anybody in the Metroplex, and they're all nice: La Mera Hora (Mexican-style lager), High Brau (Helles), La Cabra Dorada (Maibock), and G'Night Vienna (Vienna style lager) are the popular choices, and they also do a weizenbock, IPAs, an IPL, a wee heavy, and even some offbeat stuff like a sour. Try the Kolsch for easy drinking, or if you "don't like beer." Keep your food order in mind when ordering a beer, as some of this stuff really pairs off with the food you're about to enjoy.

They also have a small cooler by the door with multi-packs of their beer to take home, and presumably, they also do growler fills now that it is legal to do so in the state of Texas.

There is a small dirt parking lot 'round the back, and street parking where you can find it. Please do not park in the lots for other businesses, and pay attention to signs and show some consideration for others.
