"Cáritas Diocesana de Ourense tiene por objeto la realización de la acción caritativa y social de la Iglesia en la Diócesis. Es, en la Iglesia Diocesana, el organismo oficial para la promoción de la acción socio-caritativa y la comunicación cristiana de bienes.
Por su propia naturaleza es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro. Para dar cumplimiento a sus fines se organiza siguiendo el modelo de una entidad privada jerarquizada, con órganos decisorios propios centralizados en el domicilio social, y a través de la coordinación en el territorio de equipos parroquiales, las llamadas Cáritas Parroquiales.
