The only text on the obelisk is the name: WILLIAM KLINGER

There is a Masonic seal on the upper section.


William Klinger is the son of German Immigrants, he was born in 1851 in Hermann, Missouri and died in 1914 in Marshal, Missouri. His Find-A-Grave   does not provide much more.

108 E. 2nd St. is a mansion built buy him.
"This mansion was built in 1892 for William Klinger, owner of the Hermann Star Mill on Front Street. It was later the home of prominent merchant August Begemann." ~ Visit Hermann
