Het monument 'Laatste troost' in Hoorn is een bronzen beeld van twee handen die elkaar stevig vasthouden. Het beeld is geplaatst op een natuurstenen voetstuk. Op het voetstuk is een bronzen plaquette bevestigd. De tekst, geschreven door Margreet van Hoorn, op de plaquette luidt:
'LEG JE HAND
MAAR OVER MIJN HAND
HOU ME VAST, GEEF ME KRACHT
BLIJF BIJ ME IN WANHOOP
EN EENZAAMHEID
TOT HET IS VOLBRACHT...'
Het monument maakt deel uit van een reeks van vier beelden, verspreid over het centrum van Hoorn. Elk beeld heeft een eigen thema: 'Afscheid', 'Woede', 'Wanhoop' en 'Laatste troost'. Het monument 'Laatste troost' in Hoorn waarschuwt tegen onrecht en het gevaar van oorlog. Om mensenrechten te (kunnen) waarborgen is waakzaamheid geboden. Het monument is onthuld op 4 mei 1990.

The monument 'Last consolation' in Hoorn is a bronze statue of two hands holding each other tightly. The statue is placed on a natural stone pedestal. A bronze plaque is attached to the pedestal. The text, written by Margreet van Hoorn, on the plaque reads:
'PUT YOUR HAND
BUT OVER MY HAND
HOLD ME, GIVE ME STRENGTH
STAY WITH ME IN HOPE
AND LONELINESS
UNTIL IT IS COMPLETED ... '
The monument is part of a series of four statues, spread over the center of Hoorn. Each image has its own theme: 'Farewell', 'Anger', 'Despair' and 'Final consolation'. The monument 'Last consolation' in Hoorn warns against injustice and the danger of war. Vigilance is required in order to (be able to) guarantee human rights. The monument was unveiled on May 4, 1990.
