"After passing through the Mesón do Roxo, which would be at the end of the current Concordia street, the Esmorgantes cross Lamas Carvajal on their way to the Alameda. The street, an old medieval Jewish quarter, is named after another illustrious Ourense man of letters, Valentín Lamas Carvajal. Other fictional characters emerged from his pen, the so-called Graxos das Burgas, young orphans who had their hiding place in the heat of the thermal springs."
