At the self guided trail at the Very large array center you will find these two parabolic dishes. When standing in front of one of the dishes you can clearly hear someone speaking even from a far distance.

Lear about how soundwaves are being reflected /bouncing over distance and reinforced by the disc.
Briefly explain if the experiment was effective for you. Could it have been better?:
When I visited the center alone a familiy helped me demonstrating it by speaking very quietly aprox 165 feet away. I could clearly hear what they were saying as if they were standing right next to me.
When is the apparatus/experiment available to the public:
During opening hours of the visitor center:
Site Open: 8:30am – Sunset daily
First Saturday Tours: 11am, 1pm, 3pm
Third Saturday Tours: 11 am, 1pm, 3pm
At the moment (Oct 2020) the center is closed dur to the corona situation.
