On 15 May 1861, one hundred and forty six men swore allegiance to the South. This unit became known as Co. K, 6th Tenn. Inf. Reg., C.S.A. "The Denmark Danes".

Denmark Danes 1861-1865--On 15 May 1861, one hundred and forty six men swore allegiance to the South. This unit became known as Co. K, 6th Tenn. Inf. Reg., C.S.A. "The Denmark Danes".

Only forty of the original company survived the four long years of war. These men returned home to find their community in a state of total destruction.

LOCATION: Marker is in Denmark, Tennessee, in Madison County. Memorial is at the intersection of Denmark Jackson Road and Britton Lane, on the right when traveling east on Denmark Jackson Road. The marker is located on the grounds of the Denmark Presbyterian Church. Marker is in this post office area: Denmark TN 38391, United States of America.
