Just ahead of you is the site of the 1916 Everett Massacre where Pier 2 once stood. The tragedy involved striking shingle industry workers and IWW members who had come from Seattle to support them. Officially 7 people died and dozens more were injured in the confrontation of workers and the 'citizen deputies' who were operating under the authority of the Snohomish County sheriff.
