Founded in Montreal in 1867 by Carlo Onorato Catelli, the company is an important company specializing in pasta.

At the time, the company offered only two products: macaroni and vermicelli.

Today, there are more than 80 Catelli products for every type of pasta lover. Over the years, Catelli's pasta business took off and the owner became a prosperous and well-respected businessman who played a founding role in the development of Montreal's Little Italy.

At one point, the company was sold to the American producer of food and beverage products, consumer products, and industrial products, Borden Inc.

In 2001, Borden sold the company to New World Pasta, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ebro Foods (Spain).
