These columns stand at the entrance of Ping Tom Memorial Park, facing 19th Street. According to Wikipedia, they are known as "the "Four Dragon Gateway," four 20 feet (6.1 m)-tall columns, each etched with Chinese dragons and...modeled after a traditional Chinese courtyard." (visit link)

The columns make a nice frame for the beautiful park beyond them, including the pagoda pavilion and the Chicago River.
