Vattenhallen Science Center is research, teaching and interactive exhibitions and experiments for visitors. There is also a planetarium.
Outside there is this Interactive Science Displays where one can try to compete with the speed of light.
The speed of light is 300,000 km per second. The distance from the moon to the earth is 400,000 km and therefore it takes 1.3 seconds before the light from the moon reaches the earth.
The light beam on the display traverses the distance between the Earth and the Moon in the actual time it takes the light to travel the correct distance, namely 1.3 seconds.
Gives a good sense of how fast the light is moving. The display is 10 m long and an LED shows the speed of light from the moon to the earth. It takes 1.3 seconds from the moon to the earth.

Could it have been better?: Yes, it gave a really good sense of how fast the light is. We tried several times to compete with the light beam, but could not win even though there were only 10 meters.
