This 1935 courthouse, the third for Knox County, is a fine example of Art Deco architecture. The bold geometric patterns and strong symmetry are typical of Art Deco courthouses in west Texas. The stone courthouse was built by the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works at the height of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, the combination of which had devastated this part of the country.
