La paroisse de Saint-Jacques-des-Piles est fondée en 1885 par détachement des paroisses de Saint-Tite et de Sainte-Flore. Cette année-là arrive le premier curé résident et on assiste à l'ouverture des registres. La messe se donne dans le presbytère construit en 1884 et 1885.

L'église actuelle est construite en 1898 et 1899. C'est seulement en 1906 que les cloches au nombre de trois sont montées dans le clocher et que l'on installe la statue de Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur. Celle-ci est faite en bois probablement en pin et mesure près de 9 pieds de hauteur.
