DE: Dieser Bismarckturm wurde ab Juni 1902 nach einem Entwurf von Architekt Arnold Hartmann errichtet. Als Ort dafür stellte die Stadt Köln ein Gebiet zwischen dem südlichen Ende des neu errichteten Bayenthalgürtels, der die Stadtbezirke Bayenthal und Marienburg trennt, und dem Oberländer Ufer, einer Straße, die parallel zum Rhein entlang verläuft, zur Verfügung.
Die nach der Entschlussfassung im Jahr 1900 für die Errichtung des Turmes gesammelten Spendengelder reichten aber nicht aus, so dass die Verantwortlichen auf einen Teil der Pläne um die Säule verzichtete und auch in der Größe des Bauwerkes Abstriche gemacht wurden. So wurde die Säule mit nur 27m Höhe errichtet, geplant waren ursprünglich 36m. Die Baukosten summierten sich dabei auf etwa 48.000 Mark, was heute etwa 321.000 Euro entspräche.
An der Vorderseite des Turmes befindet sich eine dem Bremer Roland nachempfundene 15m hohe Figur in ritterlicher Rüstung mit den Zügen Bismarcks im oberen Teil. Im unteren Teil hält die Figur einen Schild des deutschen Reiches mit einem Reichsadler als Relief. Links und rechts von der Figur ist ein bronzener Eichenkranz angebracht. Am Kopf des Turmes befinden sich vier Rundbogen-Öffnungen, darüber ein Absatz für eine Feuerschale mit 125cm Durchmesser, die nach der Einweihung am 21. Juni 1903 zuerst mit Erdöl und ab 1907 auch mit Erdgas befeuert wurde. Im Jahr 1939 wurde die Befeuerung dann eingestellt. Mit Anfang der 2000er wurde der Turm umfassend saniert und seit dem Instand gehalten.
