The Ancient aqueduct, Carvão Aqueduct was built to to take water from the two lagoons Lagoa do Canário and Lagoa das Empadadas to the city of Ponta Delgada. (visit link)
The aqueduct is built in stone and is now overgrown with moss and ferns. The aqueduct was built in the 17th and 18th centuries. Carvão Aqueduct is an extension part of the aqueduct Aqueduct 'Muro das Nove Janelas' (wall of the nine windows). Carvão Aqueduct is located near Lagoa do Carvão.
