Gregory, SD is 360 miles from Waterloo, IA. Waterloo is 454 miles from Jeffersonville, IN. The total distance covered was 795 miles! The time the ISS took to travel the whole distance was only 3 min and 1 sec! The sky in Gregory was scattered thin haze. The sky in Waterloo was clear. The sky in Jeffersonville was mostly clear.
We've been eager to create a waymark in this category. When Iowa Tom emailed us to tell me that he had someone interested in doing the pass with him, we looked on Heavens-Above.com and realized that we would be along the same pass. Wow! Of course we had to try to see the ISS also. Neos1 got a new digital camera for Christmas, and he was anxious to see if he could get a decent shot of the event.
It was a little cloudy early in the evening, and we were wondering if we would be able to see anything at all by the time of the pass. Just before the pass, the clouds skimmed away over the pass area, and we were treated to an unusually long and bright pass. Our 17 year old son watched with us.
