In the late 1970s, Vietnamese boat refugees began to be allowed to settle in Denmark.

In an attempt to become integrated into the new culture, the refugees also had another great need that had to be taken care of - the spiritual part of life. Once you have left your culture and belief in yourself in your home country, you will feel like you have lost something in your life. Compared to the Vietnamese Buddhists, there was no Vietnamese temple at that time. Therefore, a small group of Buddhists founded and held ceremonies twice a month on Sundays. The group was initially allowed to borrow premises from the Danish Refugee Council and later from Humlehave Folkeskole School in Vollsmose to hold the ceremonies.

After several years of collecting donations, this group of Buddhists purchased an older car repair shop in 1997 at its current location and transformed the site into a rapidly evolving temple.

Currently, the temple holds ceremonies twice a week on Sundays for even weeks in the period from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In addition, the temple on the afternoon of the 14th and 30th of the lunar calendar has a ceremony that begins at 6 p.m.

Temple activities include religious ceremonies, lectures, and stories about Buddhism, including the teachings of the Buddha and many other activities.

Many Danish groups visit the temple every year, especially high schools and AOF schools.

The temple is open to anyone who is interested in the teachings of Buddhism or comes to practice Buddhism. All of the above activities are free.
