Heyford station was opened with the Great Western Railways, Oxford to Banbury line in 1850. It originally featured station building based on Brunel's box design which was also copied at nearby Aynho and Kidlington. The Building fell into disrepair during the 1970's and was eventually removed in the 1980's.
Today the station has a modern sanitary feel with little more than neon timetables, shelters and a metal pedestrian bridge. Weekdays predominately see commuter passengers heading south to Oxford/Reading/London, while weekends see leisure passenger walking between stations.
