Na de aanleg van het Van Bergen IJzendoornpark in 1900 werd in 1903 de eerste straat aangelegd, aan de zuidkant van de vijver. Dit werd de Van Beverninghlaan. De straat kreeg langzamerhand vorm met een blok van luxe middenstandswoningen in Jugenstil-stijl, ontworpen door architect Willem Kromhout, waarvan het hoekhuis van een torentje is voorzien. In de gevels van de huizen zitten bijzondere tegeltableaus met voorstellingen van dieren en plantaardige motieven, die christelijke en aziatische symboliek vertegenwoordigen.
De huizen worden aangemerkt als gemeentelijk monument.

After the construction of the Van Bergen IJzendoorn Park in 1900, the first street was constructed in 1903, on the south side of the pond. This became the Van Beverninghlaan. The street gradually took shape with a block of luxury middle-class houses in Art Nouveau style, designed by architect Willem Kromhout, of which the corner house has a turret. In the facades of these houses are special tile pictures with representations of animals and vegetable motifs, representing Christian and Asian symbolism.
The houses are classified as a municipal monument.
