DE: Der Forstbotanische Garten im Kölner Stadtteil Rodenkirchen wurde bereits in den ersten Jahren nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg als Ausgleich für die entstehenden Industrieflächen geplant. Anfang der 1960er Jahre wurden die Planungen dann umgesetzt und der 25ha große Garten der Bevölkerung im Jahr 1964 zur Verfügung gestellt.
Der Garten wurde in drei Teile mit einem nordamerikanischen, einem europäischen und einem japanischen Waldbestandteil unterteilt. Am westlichen Ende des japanischen Gartens am Übergang zum europäischen Teil befindet sich dieser schlichte Torii mit etwa 3m Breite und etwa 4m Höhe.
Geöffnet hat der forstbotanische Garten täglich ab 9 Uhr, geschlossen wird der Park im März, September und Oktober um 18 Uhr, in den Monaten April bis August um 20 Uhr und in den Wintermonaten November bis Februar bereits um 16 Uhr, der Eintritt ist kostenlos.

EN: The Forest Botanical Garden in the Rodenkirchen district of Cologne was planned as early as the first few years after the Second World War to compensate for the industrial areas that were created. At the beginning of the 1960s, the plans were implemented and the 25-hectare garden was made available to the population in 1964.
The garden was divided into three parts with a North American, a European and a Japanese forest component. At the western end of the Japanese garden at the transition to the European part is this plain torii with about 3m width and about 4m height.
The forest botanical garden is open daily from 9 a.m., the park closes at 6 p.m. in March, September and October, at 8 p.m. from April to August and at 4 p.m. in the winter months from November to February, admission is free of charge.
