In the Abrahamic religions , Gabriel is an archangel who, normally, acts as a messenger sent by God certain people.
Gabriel is mentioned in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible . In the Book of Daniel , he is called "the man Gabriel", Gabriel is not called an archangel in the Bible , but is called that way in works of the intertestamental period , such as the Book of Enoch . In the Churches Catholic , 5 Anglican and Orthodox Gabriel is given the treatment and holy archangel, along with Miguel and Rafael .
For Islam, Gabriel is the angel of revelation, since God himself revealed the Qur'an to the prophet Muhammad through the angel Gabriel.
