Sinds 2008 beschikt het Loodswezen Rotterdam-Rijnmond over dit nieuwe onderkomen aan de Pistoolhaven in Rotterdam-Europoort compleet met landingsplaats voor helikopters en een afmeerplaats voor de loodsvaartuigen.
Bij zeer slechte weersomstandigheden en bij schepen die vanwege diepgang of speciale lading verder op zee een loods aan boord krijgen wordt de loods met een helikopter aan boord gebracht. Bij grote bulk schepen kan de helikopter aan dek landen, anders wordt de loods 'gehoïst', d.w.z. met een lier naar beneden gelaten.
Op deze plek zijn regelmatig de gele helikopters te zien, bij aankomst of landen of in de hangar.

Since 2008, the Pilotstation Rotterdam-Rijnmond has this new accommodation at the Pistoolhaven in Rotterdam-Europoort, complete with a landing place for helicopters and a mooring place for the pilot vessels.
In very bad weather conditions and in ships that have a pilot earlier on board due to draft or special cargo, the pilot is brought on board by helicopter. With large bulk ships, the helicopter can land on deck, otherwise the pilot is 'hoist', i.e. lowered with a winch.
The yellow helicopters can be seen regularly at this place, on arrival or landing or in the hangar.
