Fire Department Station No. 1 is located at 209 E. Springer Avenue, just south of the downtown area. This is a multi-sectioned building consisting of a 6-bay vehicle building which is one-story metal with a metal gable roof. It is connected by a short enclosed walkway to a large brick one and one-half story brick building, also with a gable roof. This portion has a canted corner covered entrance with a stone arched opening.
The Guthrie Fire Department was established in 1889 at the time of the Land Run. It offers a full spectrum of emergency services, including fire, rescue, and emergency medical. They are also involved with fire investigation, and public education. There are a total of 25 full-time paid firefighters in the department. The department covers a total of 450 square miles. Outside the city limits, rural property owners can subscribe to services by paying an annual fee, plus fees for any services offered.
The department operates numerous vehicles, including 3 engines, a tanker, 4 brush vehicles, 2 rescue, a truck, 4 cars, 5 ambulances and a rescue boat.
