Memorial Park Arch - Moore, OK - Freestanding Arches on Waymarking.com

A vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed hit a group of students who were just starting their afternoon practice run on the school's side street. Three students died and nine were injured. The perpetrator had just lost his son in a vehicle accident the day before.

A memorial was placed along the sidewalk where the tragedy took place, on the south side of the school. A memorial park was established at the pond next to the school. This arch welcomes visitors to Memorial Park, and a plaque honors those affected by this tragedy.

Memorial Park
On February 3, 2020, twelve Cross Country/Track athletes began their afternoon run. As they took their first few steps by the pond, they were struck by a vehicle travelling more than 70 miles per hour.

Memorial Park is dedicated to those we lost as a result of this tragedy, to the survivors, and to the students and staff who immediately became first responders and gave every effort to save the lives of their fellow Lions.

We hold tight to the legacies of those we lost - Kolby Crum, Rachel Freeman, and Yurida Martinez. We are inspired by the strength of survivors Melany Alba, Dylan Anders, Ashton Baza, Audrey Hill, Shiloh Hutchinson, Chance Marlett, Ethan Richardson, Isaac Romero, and Joseph White. We are forever united - healing and persevering together.

Memorial Park is a symbol of love, hope, and family.
