In 1765 trade was allowed between nine Spanish ports and five American islands. A Coruña was the only authorized Galician port. All the ships docked in its port had to pay a tax, called "right of failure", which enriched the municipal coffers. Later the Consular Corps of the Sea was in charge of ensuring the flourishing and prosperity of commerce and industry. In addition, the city maintained between 1685 and 1815 a maritime mail with the British city of Falmouth.
In this building lived Don Raimundo Molina, representative of the Royal Dutch Uoyd and consul of the Netherlands, and father of the well-known mayor Don Alfonso Molina. Influenced by the Italian modernism of Turin, with its hanging garlands and ribbons, the view of the old city closes scenographically.
