Hardstenen palen langs de dijk markeerden de vakken die de aanwonenden moesten onderhouden. De meeste van deze ‘verhoefslagpalen’ zijn echter bij de dijkversterking opgeruimd.
In de omgeving van Willige Langerak en Lopik zijn nog veel van deze verhoefslagpalen zichtbaar langs de Lekdijk. Op de meeste kun je het nummer nog maar nauwelijks lezen. Deze paal vond ik de best bewaarde. Hij markeert het einde van de vakken 181, 182 en 183.

In the vicinity of Willige Langerak and Lopik, many of these poles are still visible along the Lekdijk. On most of them you can barely read the number. I thought this pole was the best preserved. He marks the end of boxes 181, 182 and 183.
