A large boulder at the southwest corner of Routes 97 and 44 contains two plaques honoring the citizens of Pomfret who served in United States wars. The smaller upper plaque is inscribed:

The much larger lower plaque is the honor roll with the names of 102 Pomfret citizens who served in World War I. Three names are marker with a * indicating that they died in while in service. The plaque is inscribed:
