DE: Im Herbst des Jahres 2020 wurde die bis dahin genutzte hölzerne Beobachtungshütte im Wesselinger Park Entenfang durch einen Brand zerstört. Im April 2021 baute die Firma Lublinsky Stahl- und Metallbau, von der Verwaltung des Rhein-Erft-Kreises mit einem feuerfesten Neubau beauftragt, die neue, an drei Seiten geschlossene und mit Sichtschlitzen versehene Plattform auf. Diese ist über einen Metallsteg zukünftig auch für Rollstuhlfahrer leicht erreichbar.
Ein (zugegebenermaßen etwas verwittertes) Schild vor der Hütte weist auf das einzigartige Biotop, welches aus einem Altrheinarm in den 1960er Jahren entstand und seit 1969 unter Naturschutz steht, hin. Die enthaltenen Arten von Kleinkrebsen, Schnecken und auch kleineren Fischen bilden dabei die Grundlage für die vielen Wat- und Wasservögel, die den Entenfang als Zwischenstation für den Vogelzug oder als Brutgebiet nutzen. Nach Aussage des Schildes konnten hier insgesamt über 250 Arten bei der Durchreise und 52 Arten (davon 12 Arten auf der roten Liste) beim Brüten beobachtet werden, explizit aufgeführt und mit einem Bild auf dem Schild sind dann diese Vogelarten (in alphabetischer Reihenfolge): Bachstelze, Blässhuhn, Eisvogel, Flussuferläufer, Graureiher, Haubentaucher, Kiebitz, Kormoran, Krickente, Lachmöwe, Nilgans, Reiherente, Rotkehlchen, Stockente, Sumpfrohrsänger, Teichhuhn und Zwergtaucher.

EN: In autumn 2020, the wooden observation hut in Park Entenfang in Wesseling, which had been in use until then, was destroyed by fire. In April 2021, the company Lublinsky Stahl- und Metallbau, commissioned by the administration of the Rhein-Erft district with a fire-resistant new building, set up the new platform, which is closed on three sides and provided with viewing slots. In the future, this will also be easily accessible for wheelchair users via a metal walkway.
A (admittedly somewhat weathered) sign in front of the hut indicates the unique biotope, which emerged from an arm of the old Rhine in the 1960s and has been under nature protection since 1969. The contained species of small crabs, snails and also smaller fish form the basis for the many waders and water birds that use the Entenfang as a stopover for bird migration or as a breeding area. According to the sign, a total of over 250 species in transit and 52 species (including 12 species on the red list) during breeding could be observed here, explicitly listed and with a picture on the sign, these bird species are (in alphabetical order): black-headed gull, coot, cormorant, Egyptian goose, gray heron, great crested grebe, kingfisher, lapwing, little grebe, mallard, marsh warbler, moorhen, robin, sandpiper, teal, tufted duck and white wagtail.
