6th Street Mainline - Moorhead, MN - Active Rail Locations on Waymarking.com

After asking around I found out that the best times to spot trains in downtown Moorhead is from 6am - 8am and in the evening. This way trains are not blocking north-south traffic during the busier times when folks are driving to work or back home.

I picked this location because of the bench, Stick Garden and convenience store. The bench at this spot gives folks somewhere to sit, the Stick Garden give folks some art to enjoy while waiting for a train and the convenience store is, well, convenient if you want a snack, drink or bathroom.

While waiting to get a photo for this Waymark a Moorhead Police Officer stopped by to do a Wellness Check. He spotted me looking up and down the tracks for a train and wanted to make sure I was doing OK. He was very polite and nonconfrontational. Just a heads-up about our observant cops in Moorhead.

I have stopped by three times, roughly 4:30pm - 5pm each time. Once I had a switch engine get to within two blocks before heading back toward Dilworth and this third time I had one train pass by at about 5pm.
