This ancient mangle can be spotted in front of a house at the Schutsboomstraat in Schaijk, just near the ancient 'Schutskooi'.
Mangles like these were used in the 20th century while doing the laundry.
It had two rollers in a sturdy frame, connected by cogs and, in its home version, powered by a hand crank or electricity. The appliance was originally used to wring water from wet laundry and were replaced by the centrifuge.
This mangle was manufactured by M.Robben at 's Hertogenbosch.
