The large village of Edzell is situated in the north-eastern part of the county of Angus in Scotland. The B966 road runs northwards in a straight line through the village, and after the southern approach through the Dalhousie Arch, the prominent Inglis Memorial Hall with its clock tower, looms large on the right-hand side of the road.

It was local philanthropist Lieutenant Colonel Robert William Inglis, who gifted the hall to the community as a library in 1896. Designed by Dundee architects Charles & Leslie Ower, work began in 1897, and it was opened on July 22nd 1898, the 55th birthday of Colonel Inglis.

The building is of red sandstone in a Scots Baronial style, and dominated by the five stage tower. The date can be seen with the numbers arranged on all four corners of the clock face 1,8,9,7.

The hall is currently out of use, but apart from a library, it has also been used as a museum.
