This statue of John Milton Turner is on the grounds of the Frisco Heritage Museum. It is a great way to honor a man who contributed so much to his community in many ways. John is depicted with his seeing eye dog Eben, and the plaque lists all of his seeing eye companions. The statue is made of bronze, and is life size. John is dressed in a business suit (a Texas star is on his tie), and he carries a briefcase in his right hand. His left hand is holding his seeing eye dog's harness. John is "looking" slightly upward, and has a nice smile on his face.

A couple of articles on this amazing man and his life, which include photos of John at the statue:

"Blindness is an inconvenience, not a handicap!"

John Milton Turner

Born in Frisco, TX in 1935. After losing his sight as a teenager, Turner went on to be successful in business and was appointed by six Governors to serve more than three decades on the Texas Commission for the Blind, was a Director on the Board of Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind and served 17 years as a Trustee of The Seeing Eye of Morristown, NJ.

John Turner's leadership by example has inspired thousands of others to strive for success. He continually gives generously of his time and self to help others to confront the challenge of vision loss and to move forward with confidence.

John's faithful Seeing Eye Dogs: Villa 1953, Inky 1964, Pepper 1977, Gordy 1979, Steffie 1989, Corrine 1993, Robyn 2003, Eben 2014
