The Nokken family left Norway in 1870. The Nokken family homesteaded in the Red River Valley in 1871. The Nokken Family were charter members for the first Lutheran Church in the area, which met on their farm until becoming Salem Lutheran Church south of Fargo in 1870. In addition to farming, Nokken Farms also sells farm supplies, seed and fertilizer, to other farmers.
