The Baxter Methodist Episcopal Church was organized around 1901-1902. The first building was built around 1903-1904 about 200 yards to the west of the current location.
Starting around 1922, the prior building was abandoned and most of the church services were held at the Baxter Seminary until 1929 when a building was completed at the present location.
